Chin Cellulite or Chin Dimpling
Chinulite, which refers to excessive wrinkling of the skin in the chin area, and is caused by an overactive chin muscle as well as volume loss in this area due to natural aging. Sometimes this appearance is referred to as chin cellulite, pebbled chin, or orange peel skin. This condition can easily be treated with botulinum toxin (sometimes called Chintox) such as Botox, Dysport, Jeaveau, Xeomin and Daxxify. These medications work by relaxing the chin muscle and therefore, eliminating chin cellulite or orange peel skin on the chin.
Another reason for chinulite is loss of fat beneath the chin’s skin surface, which causes the skin on the chin to involute and appear sunken, aged and can also result in a horizontal line on the chin. This horizontal chin line can become deep and look unattractive and aged. The crease can add to an aged appearance. Dermal fillers can fill the chin lines and improve the skin tone and texture on the chin skin so the chin is not wrinkled and unbalanced with the lips.
Treatment for chin wrinkles can take only a few minutes in the office under topical numbing cream and are virtually painless. The results are usually immediate if performed with dermal fillers, but if Botox or Dysport are used, they may take 5-7 days for results to appear.
