The short answer

There is no published Atlanta-only average, so national figures are the closest guide. A 2022 medical literature review listed U.S. Botox prices of $10 to $20 per unit, and the American Society of Plastic Surgeons put the 2023 national average fee for one neuromodulator treatment at $435. Both vary by region and provider. Your total depends on your units, your injector and how the clinic prices.

How much does Botox cost per unit in Atlanta?

No national survey we checked publishes an Atlanta-only average, so national figures are the closest guide. A 2022 literature review in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Global Open listed Botox at about $10 to $20 per unit in the United States. Treat that as a range, not a price list: it varies by region, by provider and over time.

The other national benchmark is a per-visit number. In its 2023 fee survey, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) put the average fee for a neuromodulator injection at $435, down from $528 in 2022. That average blends every brand in the category, including Botox, Dysport, Xeomin, Jeuveau and Daxxify, and ASPS built its 2023 figures from data supplied by plastic surgeons, dermatologists and otolaryngologists, so it may not match what a med spa or another type of practice charges.

ASPS also lists the factors that move the cost: how advanced your lines are, how much product you need, the qualifications of the person treating you, the time the treatment takes and the geographic office location. That last factor is one reason two quotes inside the Perimeter, or one in Buckhead and one in Forsyth County, can differ for the same plan. Ask each clinic for its per-unit price and expected unit count, then compare totals.

Is Botox priced per unit or per area?

Both models exist. Per-unit pricing charges you for the exact amount of product injected, so the bill rises or falls with your dose. Per-area pricing charges a flat fee for a zone, such as the frown lines between your brows, however many units it takes. Neither is automatically cheaper. It depends on how many units you need.

Per-unit pricing is the easier one to compare between clinics, because you can do the multiplication yourself. It also works in your favor if you need fewer units. The catch is that the final number is not known until you are examined: the FDA label for Botox Cosmetic says an effective dose is judged by watching how strongly you can activate the muscles being treated.

Flat per-area pricing gives you a known number up front, which some people prefer for budgeting. It can save you money if you have strong muscles and cost you more if you need very little. Whichever model a clinic uses, ask the same questions so you are comparing like with like.

  • How many units do you expect to use, and what is the per-unit price?
  • Which product is in the quote: Botox, Dysport, Jeuveau or another brand?
  • Is a follow-up check or small top-up included, and within what window?

How do you work out what Botox will cost?

At the U.S. range of $10 to $20 per unit listed in a 2022 medical literature review, every 10 units of Botox adds about $100 to $200 before any separate fees. Your own quote could land outside that range, because prices vary by region and provider, and because the number of units you need is decided at your visit.

Twenty is a number for the math here, not a recommendation. How many units suit you depends on the area, how strong your muscles are and how much movement you want to keep, and only your injector can tell you that after an exam. ASPS notes that how aggressively you want to treat an area changes the amount of product used, and so the cost.

The same math works for any count: multiply the units by the per-unit price, then add anything the clinic bills separately. If the per-unit price is missing from a quote, ask for it. A total with no unit count makes it hard to tell whether a lower price simply means a smaller dose.

Is $400 a lot for Botox?

Not by national benchmarks. $400 is slightly under the ASPS 2023 national average fee of $435 for one neuromodulator treatment, and it sits within a range that a 2022 review lists as $10 to $20 per unit. Whether $400 is fair for you depends on how many units it buys, which product is used and who is injecting.

Turn the question around and ask what the $400 includes. If it covers the units your injector recommends, an assessment of your face before anything is injected and a follow-up check, it may be fair value. If it covers fewer units than you need, you may not get the effect you came for, and you may end up paying again for more product.

It also helps to think in yearly terms. The FDA label for Botox Cosmetic says the effect on frown lines lasts about three to four months, so keeping up treatment all year could mean three or four visits. Multiply your own per-visit quote by the number of visits you expect, then compare that with any package or membership a clinic offers.

What is a good price to pay for Botox?

A good price is one you can understand: a clear unit count, a stated per-unit or per-area rate, genuine FDA-approved product and a licensed, trained injector. A price far below the market should prompt questions rather than excitement, because in 2024 federal health agencies linked illnesses to counterfeit product and unlicensed injectors.

In April 2024 the FDA warned that counterfeit Botox had been found in multiple states. The agency said the products appeared to have been bought from unlicensed sources and were injected by licensed and unlicensed people, sometimes in non-medical settings. It advised consumers to confirm with their provider that the product comes from an authorized source and that the person is licensed and trained to give it.

A July 2024 CDC report described seven women in Tennessee and New York City who became ill after cosmetic injections in nonmedical settings in March 2024. Four were hospitalized, and at least four had received counterfeit product. One reported paying less than the U.S. wholesale acquisition cost of the product, in other words less than the manufacturer's list price to wholesalers. Warning signs worth pausing on include these.

  • A per-unit price far below every other quote you have gathered
  • Injections at a home, a party or another setting that is not a medical office
  • No clear answer about which product is used or where it was bought
  • No clear answer about who is injecting and what license they hold

What changes the price of Botox from one clinic to the next?

The main drivers are how many units you need, which product is used, who is injecting, how many areas you treat and what follow-up is included. The clinic's own costs and location matter too. Two quotes can differ a lot and both be honest, so compare what each price buys rather than the headline figure.

Product is a big one. The 2022 review listed U.S. ranges, which vary by provider, of $10 to $20 per unit for Botox, $8 to $18 for Xeomin, $8 to $16 for Jeuveau and $4 to $8 for Dysport. Those numbers are not apples to apples. The FDA label for Botox Cosmetic, the Jeuveau label and the Dysport label each say their units cannot be compared to or converted into units of other botulinum toxin products, so a cheaper unit may simply mean more units. Our guides to Jeuveau vs Botox and Dysport vs Botox walk through the unit math.

Training and time are the other big variables. ASPS lists the expertise and qualifications of the person performing the treatment, and the time and effort it requires, among the factors behind cost. A clinic that builds in a follow-up check, or includes small top-ups, is pricing in extra time. Ask whether that is part of the quote or billed separately.

How long does Botox last, and what does that mean for yearly cost?

For frown lines, the FDA label for Botox Cosmetic says the effect lasts about three to four months. The American Academy of Dermatology says the effect lasts about 3 to 4 months and sometimes longer. Your yearly cost depends on how often you choose to repeat treatment, not only on the price of one visit.

The label also notes that the safety and effectiveness of dosing Botox Cosmetic more often than every three months have not been clinically evaluated, so a plan that brings you back every six weeks deserves a question. The AAD adds that with repeat treatment for lines and wrinkles, the muscle may thin, which can make results last longer. For some people that stretches the gap between visits over time.

Some people spread the cost with a monthly membership. Derm Clinic MD offers one; ask what it covers at your consultation so you can compare it with paying per visit. If heavy underarm sweating is part of your Atlanta summer, that is a separate treatment with its own plan, and the AAD notes a single treatment can provide up to six months of relief from excessive sweating.

How do you get an accurate Botox quote in Atlanta?

Book an in-person consultation and ask for a written plan: the product, the expected unit range, the per-unit or per-area price and what follow-up is included. At Derm Clinic MD, a physician-led med spa, every treatment starts with an in-person consultation, so you can ask for the expected unit range and total there, before anything is injected.

Timing matters as much as price if you are planning around a wedding, a work event or a summer trip. The Botox Cosmetic label says the effect typically begins one to two days after injection and increases in intensity during the first week, and the AAD says most people see results within 3 to 7 days. Booking about two weeks ahead leaves room for the effect to settle and for a follow-up check.

You can read our Botox page and pricing page before you come in, then bring your questions. Derm Clinic MD sees patients at its Buckhead and Cumming offices. When you are ready, book a consultation and ask for the unit math in writing so you can compare it with any other quote.

Questions people ask

Why are some Botox deals so cheap?

A low price can mean fewer units, a different brand, a promotion, or in the worst cases counterfeit product. A 2024 CDC report on illnesses linked to presumed counterfeit injections noted that one patient had paid less than the U.S. wholesale acquisition cost. Ask which product and how many units the price includes, and confirm the product comes from an authorized source and the injector is licensed and trained, as the FDA advises.

Is Dysport or Jeuveau cheaper than Botox?

Per unit, often yes. A 2022 review listed Dysport at $4 to $8 and Jeuveau at $8 to $16 per unit in the U.S., compared with $10 to $20 for Botox, and prices vary by provider. But units are not interchangeable between brands, and Dysport typically takes more units for the same effect, so compare the total cost of the same treatment rather than the unit price alone.

Why might I need more units than a friend?

Facial muscles differ from person to person. The Dysport label notes that the location, size and use of the frown muscles vary markedly among individuals, and the Botox Cosmetic label says an effective dose is judged by watching how strongly you can move the treated muscles. Your goals matter too: ASPS notes that treating an area more aggressively uses more product.

Do I have to keep paying for Botox every few months?

No. The effect is temporary, so if you stop, your usual movement returns as it wears off. The FDA label says the effect on frown lines lasts about three to four months, and the American Academy of Dermatology says it can sometimes last longer, especially with repeat treatment. You can choose a schedule that fits your budget and calendar, and change it later.

Does a higher price mean better Botox?

Not by itself. Genuine Botox Cosmetic is the same FDA-approved product wherever it is sold. What usually changes with price is the injector's training and time and the follow-up included. Price does not change the risks: in the label's frown-line trials 3% of people had a drooping eyelid, and its boxed warning says the effect can spread and cause trouble swallowing or breathing. Get medical help right away if that happens.

Do Botox touch-ups cost extra?

It depends on the clinic. Some include a follow-up check and a small top-up within a set window, and others bill any extra units as new product. Ask before your appointment. Because the Botox Cosmetic label says the effect increases in intensity during the first week, judging the final effect too early can lead to adding product you did not need.

Can I get an exact Botox price over the phone?

You can usually learn a clinic's per-unit or per-area rate by phone, but not an exact total, because the number of units depends on an exam of how your muscles move. At Derm Clinic MD every treatment starts with an in-person consultation, and that is the point to ask for a written unit range and total.
